Last night, the MCPL Board approved a resolution allowing library employees to unionize. The vote was 5-2. (source: H-T - sub reqd)

Congratulations to the library employees, and thanks to all the community members who voiced their opinion on this issue.

Since we've been following this issue in 2007, I just wanted to note that the MCPL board will finally be voting on allowing collective bargaining for library employees.

From today's Herald-Times (sub req'd):

A vote on the resolution to allow a union for library employees will be the first item at next Wednesday’s regular board meeting.

The board meeting is on December 19 at 5:45pm in Meeting Room 1B, according to MCPL's online calendar.
